On October 30th, the biggest hot-air balloon contest in Asia, “Saga International Balloon Fiesta 2009” was opened by the Kase River in [W:Saga Prefecture], Japan.

It is held annually since 1980, and this year, it’s the 30th anniversary.

112 balloons from 15 different countries joined in the contest where the pilots compete for their skills.

Besides the contest, there are fun event for the audiences such as character balloons, balloon experience, the eve night event, which the pilots parade through an illuminated street with the fire of hot-air balloons’ burners.

This festival will go on till November 3rd.
