Akihabara, Tokyo, is a major shopping area for electronic, computer, game, anime and manga goods.
People often call it “Akiba” for short.
Since there are over 250 electrical appliance stores are located in the area, it’s also called Akihabara Electric Town.
Luckily for foreign tourists, there are some duty free electronic stores that sell oversea models.
Check the map.
One of the most unique features of Akihabara is “maid café.” (Cosplay restaurants)
There are more than 20 maid cafés in Akiba.
It’s a role playing café where the waitresses play maids in maid-costumes and the customer plays a master.
When a customer comes into the cafe, the maids say, “Welcome home, my master (or mistress for a female customer).”
It’s cool, isn’t it?
