Last weekend, Sanja Matsuri, one of three great Shinto festivals in Tokyo, was held in Asakusa, where 1.6 million people visited to enjoy various events, venders and mikoshi parade.

A mikoshi is a portable Shinto shrine.

During the matsuri (festival), people bore a mikoshi on their shoulders.

They brought it from the shrine, carried it around the Asakusa Shrine.

There are women’s mikoshi and kids’ mikoshi too!

This is the video of Sanja Matsuri.

As you can see, it’s so crowded and wild.
