Japanese snack Takoyaki, known as octopus balls in English are popular through the country.
It’s made of batter, diced octopus, pickled ginger, green onion, and usually served with teriyaki based sauce, mayonnaise, green laver (sea weed) and dried bonito shavings on top.
Takoyaki benders are often found at festivals and sometimes large parks or around stations.
With a grill pan for takokyaki, it can be made at home too.
As you can see, there are only hemispheres and there is no other half, but by turning around semi-cooked batter with sticks, they get round.
If you live in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taiwan, Thai or Singapore, you might know or actually had this takoyaki chain vender, Tsukiji Gind-ako.
Their takoyaki is very popular as crunchy outside and creamy inside.
Very delicious!
So, if you haven’t tried one, please try!
