Japanese HANABI (Fireworks)

During summer, people enjoy fireworks everywhere, every night in Japan.

There are handy fireworks, rocket ones and other unique ones sold at stores, even at convenience stores.

People buy these and enjoy them in their backyards or neighbor parks (or wherever they can play safely) at night.

Many fireworks festivals are held in this season.

One of the most popular fireworks festivals in Tokyo is the Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival.

This festival started in 1733 and it’s believed to be the oldest fireworks festival in Japan.

Usually 20000 to 22000 are displayed per night.

Every year, a million of people including those wearing yukata (summer kimono) come to see the huge and astonishing wireworks.
