Wagashi (Japanese traditional sweets) are beautiful, healthy and delicious!

You can enjoy wagashi with all the five senses; they look beautiful, smell good, feel smooth, tastes delicious, some of them sound nicely crunchy.

Wagashi are represented Japanese seasons by the color, shape and ingredients.

For example, the wagashi in the picture “Wagashi01” is shaped a maple leaf, and the color is red and yellow; therefore, it represents Autumn.

Can you tell which season “Wagashi02” represents? …I know it’s easy. Spring!

Wagashi are made of natural materials, and mostly non oil added.

Many of them are made of ann (sweet beans paste), which have good protein, linoleic acid (reduce cholesterol), Vitamin B1, B2, B6, calcium, potassium, iron, dietary fiber.

Wagashi are usually served with tea. Sweet wagashi and bitter tea is always good combination!
