THE RITZ-CARLTON, TOKYO TEAMS UP WITH SISTER HOTEL
TO BRING NEW THAI-INSPIRED SPA TREATMENT TO GUESTS
Thai Poultice Treatment Uses Heat, Herbs to Reduce Aches and Pains
TOKYO, November 24, 2010 – Come and experience a slice of Thai pampering at the Ritz-Carlton Spa & Fitness by ESPA. The Tokyo spa has teamed up with its sister hotel, The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Phulay Bay, located in Krabi, Thailand, to offer a new signature treatment – Thai Poultice.
Using a heated muslin parcel of 14 aromatic herbs and spices, the therapist applies the poultice directly to the body in a “kneading” action. Heat and herbs are absorbed by the body to help to reduce aches and pains, increase lymphatic drainage and condition the skin. The poultice containing the aromatic herbs effectively treats sprains, sharp pain, bruising, and soreness, and relaxes the tendons and ligaments.
“It is always a delight to be able to work with another Ritz-Carlton to bring a new treatment to our list of offerings,” said Chikako Naito, the Spa Director. “The fact that we can bring a ‘slice’ of Thailand into the Spa not only elevates the list of services that we can provide to our guests, but it also helps ease the change in weather as this treatment will warm the body during the upcoming cold, winter months.”
The Ritz-Carlton Spa & Fitness by ESPA was the first to introduce ESPA – the British spa brand – to the Japanese market. Encompassing 21,000 square feet, the spa offers guests a luxurious spa, state-of-the-art fitness facilities and equipment, an indoor pool, dry sauna, steam sauna, nine spa treatment rooms, one spa suite, ideal for two people, fitness studio, and the option to purchase a club membership that provides specialized privileges including a private lounge, personal training sessions, and a variety of hotel discounts throughout the year.
