The Japanese Wisteria at Kasugataisha Shrine is about 800 years old.
It has been growing in the precinct since the shrine was established.
Since the Lord Fujiwara back then became fond of Japanese wisteria, they used Japanese wisteria as a motif for the crest of the shrine.
